THE DIALOGUE
Mr. Thanh, 85 years old, is a war photographer. He is my great-grandfather, the closet one in my family who works in the photography industry. I'd only had a few chats with him, so when we met, there was a big wall between us. It was built up by the gap between generations and the pressure I felt under his greatness.
To break that wall and step into his world, I invited him to play a 'visual game.' It's like an excuse for both of us to communicate using kind of photographic medium and practice which are different from his opinion about photography. Let the contradiction and curiosity go their ways, I observed and captured the changes in his attitude, from hesitation to more open.
In the process of having this kind of dialouge, the similarities and differences were revealed. A door between the wall was formed and began to open. It's an experiment to connect and tell a visual story
between two photographers in different generations.
